Important Reminders:
Writing: This week, we will continue our second writing unit, Adapting and Writing Fairy Tales. This week, students will be taking all that we have learned about adapting fairy tales and creating their very own, original fairy tale! We will focus on using descriptive language as well as revising the magic that is seen in their fairy tale.
Reading: This week we will continue our second unit: Character Studies. We will focus on comparing and contrasting the characters in our books, their problems, and the lessons they learn.
Science: This week we will continue our next science unit, chapter 4: Living Things. We will focus on the life cycle of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. The test for this chapter will be on Friday. Be on the lookout for a study guide!
Math: This week we will finish up Chapter 4: Understanding Multiplication. Our test is on Tuesday. Study guides were sent home last week. On Wednesday we will begin Chapter 5: Understand Division.

- Just a reminder that Monday, October 31st is our Fall Festival Day! The Pumpkin Run is from 11:40-12:00, the costume parade is at 1:40, and the classroom Halloween party is from 2:00-3:00. I hope you can join us!

Important Reminders:
Writing: This week, we will continue our second writing unit, Adapting and Writing Fairy Tales. Last week we were able to choose any fairy tale that we wanted and we began creating our own adaptations. This week, we will focus on adding actions to accompany our dialogue as well as collecting ideas in order to create our very own original fairy tales!
Reading: This week we will continue our second unit: Character Studies. We will focus on the role that illustrations play in our texts as well as the importance of the turning point in our character's story mountain.
Science: This week we will continue our next science unit, chapter 4: Living Things. We will focus on the life cycle of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
Math: This week we will continue Chapter 4: Understanding Multiplication. We are going to focus on using arrays and the Commutative Property of Multiplication in order to understand multiplication. We will also make tables as a strategy for solving multiplication problems.

Important Reminders:
Writing: This week, we will continue our second writing unit, Adapting and Writing Fairy Tales. We will focus on acting out the scenes in our adapted fairy tales in order to include every detail and action possible. We will also work on including narration in our fairy tales.
Reading: This week we will continue our second unit: Character Studies. As we study the characters in our book, we will notice that our stories are often like mountains. We will follow our characters as they go "up" and "down" the mountain, making predictions along the way. We will also take a look at how our characters react to the "trouble", or problems, in our books.
Science: This week we will begin our next science unit, chapter 4: Living Things. We will focus on the life cycle of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
Math: This week we will begin Chapter 4: Understanding Multiplication. I know the class is extremely excited about starting this chapter! We will focus on modeling multiplication through equal groups as well as repeated addition.

- The box top competition starts this week! Please send in any box tops that you can, each box top raises $0.10 for our school!

Some people think that there is enough Bears so they can stop being protected!

Important Reminders:
Writing: On Monday we will celebrate the end of our narrative unit! All third grade classes will be going around to each room and reading our friends' narrative pieces. We will then begin our next writing unit, Adapting and Writing Fairy Tales. The class is extremely excited about this unit! We will focus on studying classic fairy tales in order to gain inspiration for adapting our own fairy tales!
Reading: This week we will continue our second unit: Character Studies. As we study the characters in our book, we will notice that our stories are often like mountains. We will follow our characters as they go "up" and "down" the mountain, making predictions along the way.
Social Studies: This week we will be finish up Chapter 2: Land Forms and Continents. Last week we discussed the 7 continents, 5 oceans, 8 Missouri border states, and natural resources. This week we will discuss how to read a grid map. We will have our test on Wednesday. Study guides were sent home on Friday!
Math: This week we will finish up Chapter 3: Subtraction. We will focus on subtraction across zeros. Our test will be this Friday! Study guides (with an answer key) will be sent home Monday.
